ChoreScore ("we", "our", or "us") is a household chore-tracking app for couples. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

We are committed to keeping your data minimal, secure, and never sold or shared for advertising.

📋 Information We Collect

Account information

• Email address — used to create and authenticate your account
• Display name — used to identify you within your household
• Password — stored as a secure hash by AWS Cognito; we never see your plain-text password

App activity data

• Chores you create, complete, or unclaim
• Points earned and completion timestamps
• Avatar selection (character image preference)
• Household membership (who you share a household with)

Device information

• Device push notification token — used solely to send you chore reminders and household notifications

🔒 How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and secure your account
• To display your scores, streaks, and chore history to you and your household partner
• To send push notifications about chore activity (you can disable these in device settings)
• To calculate leaderboard standings and badge achievements within your household

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

🤝 Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We use the following third-party services to operate ChoreScore:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — authentication (Cognito), database (DynamoDB), API (API Gateway + Lambda), and push notifications (Pinpoint). AWS processes data on our behalf under their Data Processing Addendum.

Your chore data is visible only to the members of your household (you and your partner). No one else can see your data.

🛡️ Data Security

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS)
• Passwords are hashed by AWS Cognito using industry-standard algorithms
• API access requires a valid JWT token issued at sign-in
• Data is stored in AWS us-east-1 (Virginia, USA)

👶 Children's Privacy

ChoreScore is intended for adults (18+) or teenagers using the app together with a household partner. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

🗑️ Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below. We will delete your data within 30 days of your request.

Deleting your account will permanently remove your profile, chore history, points, badges, and household membership from our systems.

🔄 Changes to This Policy
